2009 Student Mock Election

As many of you probably already know, prior to this year's actual election Tully had its own mock election. Ms. Reardon's participation in Government students partook in creating an election for the student body. Grades 7-12 were given the opportunity to vote for either, Barack Obama & Joe Biden or John McCain & Sarah Palin. The results from the election were very interesting, much like the actual election.
Being a student in the class at the time, it was interesting in seeing just how much actually goes into an election. We all were in charge of campaigning for particular candidates, encouraging people to register, actually registering the students, and then holding the election. We created voting booths, ballot boxes, decorated the voting room and volunteered to monitor the event. After everyone cast their votes, we were the lucky ones who got to count the few hundred votes. Here were our results!

Barack Obama 250
John McCain 191

Along with the two main candidates some students decided to write in their own candidates. There were votes for Ron Paul, Ralph Nader and even our own, Mr. Bliss.
